Oaxaca has recently been hit by a devastating earthquake.  This is one of the most beautiful towns in Mexico and your purchase of Xaquixe glass can help keep the artisans in the region working while they recover from this tragic event.

These beautiful recycled glass tumblers are made by Studio Xaquixe in Oaxaca, Mexico. (Xaquixe is Zapotec for “from the base of the mountain.”)

My favorite beverage for these glasses – or most any glass for that matter – is a classic Bourbon Manhattan on the rocks.  And no one makes a better Manhattan than our friend Mark.  So pick your favorite Bourbon (or Rye) and mix yourself up a pitcher of Manhattans to start your weekend off right.  Here’s Mark's recipe. Let us know what you think!

  1. Fill your glass with ice and water to chill.

  2. Fill your shaker with ice.

  3. Add 2 parts bourbon to one part vermouth along with a dash of bitters. (At our house, we use Abraham Bowman Bourbon from my hometown in Virginia, Antica Vermouth, and Peychaud’s Bitters.)

  4. Shake well.

  5. Empty your now chilled glasses  and add a Luxardo Original Maraschino Cherry, add one or two cubes of ice and pour!

Now it’s time to enjoy your Classic Manhattan on the rocks!
